June 18, 2026 – Quezon City – The Land Transportation Office – National Capital Region (LTO-NCR) actively participated in the 2nd Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) for Calendar Year 2026, held today, June 18, 2026.
The Philippines is located along the Pacific Ring of Fire, making the country highly vulnerable to earthquakes and volcanic activities. In line with the government’s commitment to disaster preparedness and public safety, the conduct of regular earthquake drills aims to enhance awareness, readiness, and appropriate response during seismic events.
Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED)
LTO-NCR employees, together with members of the transacting public present in various offices, participated in the drill by observing proper earthquake safety procedures, including the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” protocol and evacuation procedures.
These preventive measures help minimize the impact of potential earthquakes and strengthen preparedness should such calamities occur.
LTO San Juan District Office – Earthquake Drill
The Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill is conducted quarterly each year. The schedule for CY 2026 is as follows:
- 1st Quarter NSED: March 12, 2026
- 2nd Quarter NSED: June 18, 2026
- 3rd Quarter NSED: September 10, 2026
- 4th Quarter NSED: November 5, 2026
