As part of its Road Safety Advocacy, the Land Transportation Office – National Capital Region (LTO–NCR), through its Regional Law Enforcement Unit, recorded a total of 809 apprehensions, with several of the involved motor vehicles impounded at the LTO Central Office.

Under the supervision of LTO Assistant Secretary and concurrent Regional Director of LTO–NCR Markus V. Lacanilao, and through the leadership of Regional Law Enforcement Unit Chief Mr. Carl Ortega, the region continues to intensify its law enforcement operations.
Breakdown of Apprehensions:
• 9 colorum vehicles
• 67 vehicles with expired registration and considered unregistered
• 364 violations in connection with RA 4136 (Land Transportation and Traffic Code)
• 9 violations in connection with RA 8794 (Anti-Overloading Act)
• 423 violations in connection with RA 8750 (Seatbelt Use Act)
• 68 violations in connection with RA 10054 (Motorcycle Helmet Act)|
• 1 violation in connection with PD 96 (Regulating the Use of Sirens, Blinkers, and Similar Devices)
• 30 impounded motor vehicles
Of the 67 unregistered vehicles, twenty-nine (29) were identified as luxury units, including four (4) BMWs, one (1) Mazda, one (1) Toyota Land Cruiser, two (2) Porsches, one (1) Mercedes-Benz, and one (1) Land Rover.
Upon verification, the nine (9) suspected colorum vehicles were found to have no valid franchise. One of these was a bus used for a student field trip—posing a serious danger since colorum vehicles do not undergo proper inspection, thereby compromising passenger safety.
“Colorum and unregistered motor vehicles are serious violations and are considered impoundable offenses,” said Assec. Markus Lacanilao.
“Since the National Capital Region is a large area, expect strengthened law enforcement operations, especially with the upcoming month of December, considered one of the busiest seasons of the year,” he added.
