LTO-NCR Launches “Oplan Undas 2025” to Ensure Safe Travel

As the Undas Season approaches, thousands of Filipinos are expected to travel to their home provinces to visit the graves of their departed loved ones. In preparation for the surge of travelers, the Land Transportation Office–National Capital Region (LTO-NCR) has launched “Oplan Undas 2025” to ensure the safety and roadworthiness of vehicles on Metro Manila roads.

LTO-NCR Regional Director Mr. Roque I. Verzosa III led the Send-Off Ceremony marking the official start of Oplan Undas 2025, held at the LTO–NCR Regional Office, 4th Floor Conference Room. The event was attended by personnel from the Regional Law Enforcement Section (RLES); the Operations and Administrative Division Law Enforcement Teams; the LTO La Loma District Law Enforcement Team (DLET); the Office of the Assistant Regional Director; division heads from the Administrative and Finance Sections; and representatives from the Regional District Media and Public Assistance Office (R-DMPAO).

The LTO-NCR Law Enforcement Team has been actively inspecting bus terminals across the metro to check the roadworthiness of public utility vehicles (PUVs) and ensure they are fit for long-distance travel. In addition to terminal inspections, the team is also conducting random roadside checks on both private and public vehicles at various checkpoints around the National Capital Region.

Regional Director Verzosa emphasized the agency’s commitment to public safety during this important Filipino tradition, noting that the NCR has numerous public utility vehicle terminals.

Undas is a cherished Filipino tradition. As it continues, the LTO will likewise continue to inspect bus terminals and other public utility vehicles to ensure the safety of our fellow Filipinos,” said Director Verzosa.

Meanwhile, Assistant Regional Director Atty. Dennis P. Barrion has directed the Regional Digital Media and Public Assistance Office (R-DMPAO) of LTO-NCR to release road safety advisories ahead of the long weekend to remind motorists of safe driving practices.

Drivers must also take responsibility for their own safety. Before going on a trip, check your vehicle thoroughly and always remember the ‘BLOWBAGETS’ safety reminder,” ARD Barion advised.

The BLOWBAGETS acronym stands for Battery, Lights, Oil, Water, Brakes, Air, Gas, Engine, Tires, and Self, serving as a quick checklist to help motorists ensure their vehicles are in proper condition before hitting the road.

Through Oplan Undas 2025, LTO-NCR reaffirms its dedication to promoting road safety and preventing accidents as Filipinos reunite with their families this holiday season.
